Leanne’s 2025 Ultra Running Journey: Stacking Races, Finding Resilience and Limits

When we reached out to Leanne and asked if she’d be willing to share her huge year of running with the Hungry Runner community, she replied the day before her Kosci 30km event, with the perfect mix of excitement and honesty that captures exactly who she is as an athlete.

She told us, “I am very excited for this run… running it with my sister as well… excited to have someone to run with haha,” but also admitted that she had “felt a bit exhausted these last few months, not going to lie haha.”

And honestly? Fair enough.
In 2025, Leanne lined up for a series of races most people would spread out over several seasons.

She described it as “a pretty dense stretch of races,” which might be an understatement. Across just three months, she completed:

  • WTF 50km (August): https://www.eliteenergy.com.au/event/wingello-trail-festival/
  • Shellharbour Marathon (September): https://www.runshellharbour.com.au/
  • B2MU 80km (October): https://www.bonditomanlyultra.com/

Stacking those events back-to-back “felt intense but manageable,” she wrote, “thanks to the base we built.” That consistency, discipline, and trust in the process is what carried her through such a demanding period.

The Highlights — In Her Words

  • WTF 50km was “a strong confidence builder.”
  • Shellharbour Marathon was “a nice change of rhythm — faster, more controlled,” reminding her that her speed was still there “even in the middle of this block.”
  • B2MU 80km was the biggest mental win: after “long hours on my feet,” she still found the resilience to push through the tough late stages.

The Tough Moments

Leanne was also open about the challenging parts.
Recovering between Shellharbour and B2MU was “the toughest part.” feeling “more accumulated fatigue than expected,” and motivation dipped at times with another big event so close on the horizon.

During B2MU “I definitely hit a rough patch” and questioned pacing and energy. That moment ended up becoming one of the “biggest takeaways.”

What Leanne Learnt

“I feel like I understand my limits and my capacity a lot better now.”

A demanding season like this doesn’t just build fitness it builds self-knowledge. And Leanne approached it with honesty, consistency, and determination.

Kosci 30km – Another Milestone

All of this reflection came the day before her Kosci 30km run, which she completed with her sister another milestone, another memory, another chapter in an already stacked year.

Congrats Leanne for such an amazing year of running!
