Hungry Runners – Sharing Our Community Feedback

Over the past few weeks, we asked everyone to share their thoughts on Hungry Runners, what we love, what we could improve, and what ideas we have for the future. Thank you to all who took the time to give feedback. Below we’ve pulled together the themes that came through from across the group. Nothing here has been filtered or decided, it’s simply a snapshot of what we all said.

We’ll be organising some small talk groups soon to chat about these ideas in more depth, and from there we’ll shape some concrete plans and get back to everyone.

What We Love Most

The feedback made it clear that our biggest strength is community spirit. We thrive on the friendly, supportive, and ego-free environment where every runner feels included. Many of us mentioned how much training together has lifted our running, with Tuesday sessions in particular standing out for both challenge and improvement.

Where We Could Improve

Several themes came up for where we might grow as a group:

  • Variety of training locations – suggestions included Anderson Gardens, Riverway, Northshore, Bushy Beach, and Mount Louisa trails.
  • Different session styles – track time trials, recovery runs, strength classes, and more explanation of the “why” behind sessions.
  • Inclusivity across paces – making sure warm-ups and groupings suit everyone.
  • Logistics – sharing session details earlier and exploring more morning options.

Membership & Value

Most felt the membership is great value, with some even saying it could be priced higher given what we receive. The overall sense is that the balance of coaching, structure, and community is working really well.

Social Spirit Beyond Training

The enthusiasm for social events came through strongly. Some of the ideas we all shared include:

  • Coffee runs (our most popular suggestion!)
  • BBQs, drinks, and Christmas parties
  • Long runs, parkrun meet-ups, and out-of-town runs for new scenery
  • Creative twists like scavenger hunts, geocaching races, watch parties for big marathons or UTMB

What’s Next

This is just the raw feedback from all of us. We’ll now set up some talk groups where we can explore these ideas further together. From there, we’ll come back with a plan that reflects what our community wants most.

Hungry Runners has always been about more than running – it’s about building something together. With all of us involved in shaping the future, we’ll only keep getting stronger.
